MICHELLE BOOKS GARDEN

-

Fans will flock to TD Garden this November — but they won’t be taking to the stands to cheer on the Celtics, rally for the Bruins or jam out to their favorite rock star or rapper. Instead, they’ll be at the arena to hear Michelle Obama speak, as part of her upcoming book tour.

The former first lady’s memoir, “Becoming,” is slated for release on Nov. 13. And while the venues for her 10 city stops are anything but intimate, Obama promises that her autobiography will be quite personal, to the extent that it intimidates her.

“I am proud of what I’ve created,” Obama said in a new video posted on Facebook. “I’m proud because it is candid, it’s honest, it is totally and utterly me. So I’m also a little frightened because it is so candid and honest and open. I am interested to see what it brings up in those who read it.

“I’m hoping that, because of this book, others feel the power of their own voice and their own story,” she added. “Not in the big moments, but in the little things, the small moments, the bumps, the bruises, the highs and the lows. Because those are the things that make us uniquely who we are.”

Obama is kicking off her book tour in her hometown of Chicago and will be stopping in Boston on Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. The event is expected to feature a frank conversation between Obama and a selection of moderators, who are still TBA but are likely members of the ex-first family and their famous friends.

Tickets for the TD Garden gig will go on sale Sept. 21 starting at 10 a.m. at BecomingMichelleObama.com. Prospective purchasers will first have to register with Ticketmaster before they can reserve their spots, including one of the meet-andgreet experiences that are going up for grabs.
