Nicholas Santoro, at 90, Franklin native founded, ran food service co.

Nicholas F. Santoro of Franklin died Tuesday. He was 90.

He was born in Franklin, where he lived all his life.

He was a 1946 graduate of Franklin High School.

He played quarterbac­k while in high school.

Mr. Santoro attended Dean Academy and the University of Miami.

He was the founder and president of the family business, New England Food Service Co. and was a former board of directors member of the Bellingham Business Associatio­n.

Mr. Santoro was president of The Business Associatio­n from 1986 to 1987, was president of The United Chamber of Commerce in 1990 and was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was named United Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year in 1991, Rotarian of the Year in 2008 and a Paul Harris Fellow.

He was a former member of Saint Anthony’s Club and served as an usher for Saint Mary’s Church in Franklin.

He was a dance instructor for the Arthur Murray Dance Studio long ago.

Mr. Santoro is survived by his wife, Marie; a daughter, Cheryl Marguerite; a son, Nick; a brother, Kenneth; a sister, Janette; a grandson and two granddaugh­ters.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Jude Church, Norfolk.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
