THE WAHLBERGS’ BROTHERLY SHOVE

-

You’re never too old to be the butt of some serious sibling jokes, a lesson just demonstrated by the Wahlberg brothers. While the Dorchester-raised stars were en route to open a new Wahlburgers location this weekend, Mark and Donnie showed no mercy when it came to razzing their big bro, Paul, on social media.

“Show ’em your Mr. Rogers shoes. He’s in the neighborhood,” Mark said in an Instagram story, poking fun at Paul’s geriatric choice of footwear and proceeding to sing, “Would you be mine? Could you be mine? My neighbor.”

The fraternal teasing didn’t stop there. Donnie — who was also seated in the SUV destined for Des Moines, Iowa, the latest locale for their family-operated restaurant chain — piled on, still at expense of Paul.

“Follow Paul Wahlberg. He’s lonely,” Donnie said in a video, pleading for people to get Paul’s Instagram account up to 10,000 followers.

In the background, fans can hear Paul repeatedly, and yet dejectedly, protesting. Apparently, Donnie was especially eager to bulk up the chef’s social media exposure in exchange for a simple, sibling-rivalry-fueled favor: having him post a picture of them together.

“Everyone, follow Paul Wahlberg on Instagram, so he can post a picture of his forgotten brother, Donald Wahlberg,” Donnie said, continuing that Paul only shared a photo of himself with Mark and adding, “You FORGOT ME!”

Paul, finally showing that he can dish just as much as he can take it, clapped back at his brother: “I didn’t forget you! Oh, trust me, there are days I would like to forget you, but I cannot.”

The playful bickering seemed to have ended there for now. But honestly, we wouldn’t have been mad if these middle-aged men kicked it up a level with some old fashioned wedgies and maybe a wet willy or two.
