‘I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE’

Judge Brett Kavanaugh took his insistence of innocence straight into the court of public opinion last night, with an emotional, surprise interview on Fox News with his wife beside him.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Kavanaugh told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum.

“I want a fair process where I can defend my integrity and my name,” Kavanaugh said in the Fox News interview as his wife, Ashley Kavanaugh, sat by his side. “I’ve never sexually assaulted anyone — not in high school, not ever.”

“It is really hard to believe,” Ashley Kavanaugh told MacCallum. “He’s kind, he’s good.”

Two women have accused President Trump’s Supreme Court pick of sexual misconduct in the early 1980s, when he was 17 and 18. Kavanaugh continues to deny the claims as he and the first accuser, psychology professor

Christine Blasey Ford, both prepare to testify Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Ford claims he groped her at a teen drinking party, although she has been unable to say when or where. The witnesses she has cited have not backed her up.

“I was never at any such party,” Brett Kavanaugh insisted. “I never have had any sexual or physical activity with Dr. Ford . ... Perhaps Dr. Ford was sexually assaulted by somebody in some place.”

Sunday, a new allegation emerged from fellow Yale alum Deborah Ramirez, who said he put his penis in her face at a drunken party when they

were freshmen. But she also said she was initially unsure it was he, citing “gaps” in her memory, and witnesses she named also reportedly have not backed her up. Ramirez was not scheduled to testify as of last night.

Kavanaugh told MacCallum, “I never did any such thing. If such a thing had happened, it would have been the talk of campus.”

Of lawyer Michael Avenatti’s claim from yet another woman that Kavanaugh organized gang rapes, the judge said, “That’s totally false and outrageous.”

Kavanaugh added, “I went to allboys Jesuit high school. I did not have intercourse or anything close to sexual intercourse in high school and for many years after. I didn’t do this or anything resembling this. This is wrong. A fair process at a bare minimum involves hearing from both sides before coming to a conclusion.

“I’m not going to let false accusations drive us out of this process,” Kava naugh said. Of Trump, he added, “He called me this afternoon and said that he’s standing by me.”

Meanwhile, Kavanaugh wrote yesterday in a letter to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee that both sets of allegations are partisan attacks, and he looks forward to trying to clear his name and move his nomination forward by testifying further on Thursday.

“These are smears, pure and simple. And they debase our public discourse,” Kavanaugh wrote. “But they are also a threat to any man or woman who wishes to serve our country. Such grotesque and obvious character assassination — if allowed to succeed — will dissuade competent and good people of all political persuasions from service.”
