DA: Rockland man armed and dangerous

- By MARIE SZANISZLO

Police were searching last night for a 47-year-old Rockland man suspected of murdering his estranged wife in Marshfield.

Police received a 911 call at 5:53 p.m. from a driver reporting that her “soon-to-be ex-husband,” Allen Warner, was chasing her in a car, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz told reporters.

Shortly afterward, police found the woman suffering from “apparent facial injuries” in a Scion in the area of 758 Main St., Cruz said. The woman was rushed to South Shore Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Her name was not released.

Cruz declined to comment on a cause of death until an autopsy is performed by the medical examiner’s office, but he said a gun may have been used.

Marshfield police warned of an “active shooter” and told residents to “stay inside and lock your doors” while a SWAT team, K-9 officers and federal and state police joined the search for Warner, whose most recent Registry of Motor Vehicles address was in Rockland. Police helicopters with searchlights were seen flying back and forth over a wooded area where Route 3A — Main Street — was shut down for several hours.

Warner is believed to be driving a gray 2013 Toyota Corolla with license plate 4FSZ80, Cruz said, and he is considered armed and dangerous.

Cruz asks anyone who spots him or the car or has information about his whereabouts to call 911.

A 58-year-old woman who lives nearby told the Herald the warning from police prompted her to search her chicken coop as helicopters buzzed overhead.

“We’re just not going to sleep,” she said, asking that her name be withheld for her safety. “He could still be in the neighborhood.”

Massachusetts State Police, local police and a SWAT team were involved in the search, according to NBC10.

The victim was a woman who was shot while in a car, according to the report.

Marshfield High School was placed on lockdown during a volleyball game against Duxbury, according to the Marshfield Mariner.
