Gisele gets personal in memoir

-

There’s more to Gisele Bundchen’s life than glitz and glamor, and she now wants people to know it. Her forthcoming memoir, “Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life,” will apparently delve into her previously private struggles with mental health, which included thoughts of suicide.

“I actually had the feeling of, ‘If I just jump off my balcony, this is going to end, and I never have to worry about this feeling of my world closing in,’” Bundchen told People magazine while promoting her book, which is set for release next week.

The supermodel revealed that her autobiography will go beyond her rainbow-drenched life on the runway and delve into the darker parts of her past — from a childhood in Brazil that left her feeling ordinary, to the rejection she first faced at the beginning of her career, to the crippling anxiety that plagued her once she finally started to succeed.

The 38-year-old Brookline resident — who remains one of the highest-paid models in the world and is, of course, married to Tom Brady — teases that her book will detail the progression of her panic attacks, which gradually grew to affect her everyday life and left her feeling hopeless, and her journey towards peace of mind.

“I had a wonderful position in my career, I was very close to my family, and I always considered myself a positive person, so I was really beating myself up,” she said. “Like, ‘Why should I be feeling this?’ I felt like I wasn’t allowed to feel bad.

“But I felt powerless. Your world becomes smaller and smaller, and you can’t breathe, which is the worst feeling I’ve ever had.”
