Illegal guns, drugs lead to arrests

- By ALEXI COHAN

Police officers in Roxbury made quick work of arresting three people and recovering three illegal guns yesterday — all within about 30 minutes.

At 3:28 a.m., officers got a call for shots fired on Harrison Avenue in Roxbury. Officers went to the area and pulled over a car driving with its headlights out. During the stop, the passenger looked upset, which led police to find a loaded gun in the car. Keith Woods, 29, was arrested and charged with possession of the illegal gun and ammunition. He will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

About 30 minutes later and a few blocks away, police were led to a big group of people playing music and going frequently in and out of an apartment. According to police reports, about 200 people were in the apartment.

When the officers went inside, a glass bottle was thrown at them, prompting them to ask everyone to leave, which two people refused to do. The officers struggled with the two men and put both of them under arrest. One man was wearing a backpack that contained a gun and another gun was found in the apartment. The officers arrested Marc-Alphonse Simon, 23, and Moses Wilson, 39.

BPD also recovered a large amount of drugs and illegal guns on Friday morning in Dorchester. That was the result of a search warrant that led officers to confiscate a loaded revolver and a safe containing scales, razors, loose pills, bags and cash.

According to police records, Friday was a busy day for police, with one reported homicide and three nonfatal stabbings in Boston. There were also four street robberies reported, two residential break-ins and three vehicle thefts.

The police department posted photos of the recovered materials on its official Twitter page and the items will be kept in police custody.
