DUXBURY — No. 13 Hingham represented the stiffest test to Duxbury’s stranglehold over the Patriot League Keenan Division.

The Dragons were up to the challenge last night, registering a stellar performance against its archival to strengthen their hold on the division.

No. 4 Duxbury erupted offensively, amassing over 300 yards of offense by halftime to run away from the Harbormen,

38-20, at Chandler Field.

For Duxbury, the victory extended its Patriot League winning streak to 51 games and gave it the inside track to an 11th straight Keenan Division title.

“(Hingham) had a shot to get us this year. We knew that coming in,” said Duxbury coach Dave Maimaron. “The preparation was outstanding. … When we play like that it’s going to be tough for any team to play with us when we play at that level offensively and defensively and special teams.”

Duxbury (5-0) set the tone from the get-go, starting the game with a 13-play, 83-yard drive capped off by Tim Landolfi (14 carries, 97 yards) scoring his first of three rushing touchdowns with an 11-yard run.

Hingham (3-1) later generated some momentum with a 4-yard touchdown run by Kevin Shea to cut its deficit to 14-6.

But the Dragons responded three plays later, starting a string of 17 unanswered points before halftime with John Roberts (12-of-23, 248 yards) hitting Will Prouty (four receptions, 126 yards) on a 33-yard scoring strike to go up, 21-6.

After an interception by Prouty led to a 30-yard field goal for Brett Souza, Duxbury tacked on another score with a 19-yard scamper to paydirt by Landolfi for a 31-6 halftime lead.

It was all the offense Duxbury needed to keep the league’s status quo.

“We’ve had a rough start the past two weeks on offense and we just wanted to come out right out the gate full throttle,” said senior captain and offensive lineman Quinn Murphy. “Everything was going smoothly. The ball was moving and making big plays. … We set the tone right when we started the game and it kept rolling with us.”
