Pats waive goodbye to DB/PR Jones once more

-

When the Patriots signed

Cyrus Jones off the Ravens’ practice squad, they were required to keep him on the active roster for a minimum of three weeks.

They did exactly that. Jones was waived by the Pats yesterday. He was on the roster from Weeks 3-5, but was inactive in the Thursday night win over the Colts. With Julian Edelman back from suspension, the Patriots did not need Jones to return punts.

A second-round pick in 2016, Jones fared well in Edelman’s absence. His 23-yard punt return against the Dolphins gave the offense some breathing room.

“My confidence is fine,” Jones said prior to the Dolphins game. “I still know what I can do (as a returner). Just going to go out there and do my job.”

Jones has practice squad eligibility.

The move creates an open roster spot for the Pats.
