Hook ’em: Texas upends Oklahoma

Texas quarterbac­k Sam Ehlinger flashed the “Hook ’Em Horns” sign to the ecstatic burnt orange end of the stadium after his third rushing touchdown, and soon after that threw his second scoring pass.

A year after briefly putting the Longhorns ahead late in their Red River Rivalry game against Oklahoma when he started as a freshman, Ehlinger had Texas ahead by three touchdowns going to the fourth quarter yesterday in Dallas.

But Ehlinger still needed one more drive to win the game, and delivered, setting up freshman Cameron Dicker’s 40-yard field goal with nine seconds left to give 19th-ranked Texas (5-1, 3-0 Big 12) a 48-45 victory over the No. 7 Sooners (5-1, 2-1) after Kyler Murray had rallied them with three touchdowns in a six-minute span.

Alabama 65, Arkansas 31 — Tua Tagovailoa passed for 334 yards and four TDs and the top-ranked Crimson Tide (6-0, 3-0 SEC) shaved the Razorbacks (1-5, 0-3) in Fayetevill­e, Ark.

Ohio State 49, Indiana 26 — Dwayne Haskins Jr. passed for a career-best 455 yards and school recordtyin­g six touchdowns and the No. 3 Buckeyes (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) pulled away in the fourth quarter against the Hoosiers (4-2, 1-2) in Columbus, Ohio.

Clemson 63, Wake Forest 3 — Travis Etienne rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns, and the No. 4 Tigers (6-0, 3-0 ACC) ran for 471 yards while thumping the Demon Deacons (3-3, 0-2) in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Florida 27, LSU 19 — Lamical Perine scored twice on short runs, including one after a trick play in the fourth quarter, and the No.22 Gators (5-1, 3-1 SEC) beat the No. 5 Tigers (5-1, 2-1) in Gainesvill­e, Fla.

West Virginia 38, Kansas 22 — Will Grier threw four TD passes and the No. 9 Mountainee­rs (5-0, 3-0 Big 12) beat the Jayhawks (2-4, 0-3) in Morgantown, W.Va.

Michigan 42, Maryland 21 — Shea Patterson threw for 282 yards and three TDs as the No.15 Wolverines (5-1, 3-0 Big Ten) beat the Terrapins (3-2, 1-1) in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Northweste­rn 29, Michigan St. 19 — Clayton Thorson threw for 373 yards and three TDs and the Wildcats (2-3, 2-1) recovered to beat the No.20 Spartans (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) in East Lansing, Mich.

Colorado 28, Arizona State 21 — In Boulder, Colo, wide receiver Laviska Shenault scored four touchdowns and the No. 21 Buffaloes (5-0, 2-0 Pac-12) beat the Sun Devils (3-3, 1-2) for just the second time in the program’s history. In New England action:

Cornell 28, Harvard 24 — Harold Coles ran 34 yards for a TD and Dalton Banks connected with Owen Peters for a 33-yard score, both in the final 7:03, to rally the Big Red (2-2, 1-1) for an Ivy League win over the Crimson (2-2, 1-1) in Ithaca, N.Y.

Maine 13, Villanova 10 — Kenny Doak kicked a careerlong 52-yard field goal on the final play of the game, lifting the Black Bears (3-2, 2-0 Colonial Athletic Associatio­n) to a win over the Wildcats (3-3, 0-3) in Orono, Maine.

UNH 28, Holy Cross 0 — Trevor Knight threw for four touchdowns and the Wildcats (1-4) picked up their first victory by blanking the Crusaders (1-5) in Durham, N.H.

URI 48, Brown 0 — Vito Priore threw for four touchdowns and the Rams (4-1) rolled the Bears (1-3) in Kingston, R.I.
