Never been a better time to tweet, Don

Remind voters of Dem hoax

- — jaclyn.cashman@bostonherald.com

I’ve never been a fan of Trump’s rude, boorish tweets and outbursts.

But with a month to go till the midterm elections, the president should not stop reminding people of the unethical, unsubstan- tiated politics of destruction that the Democratic Party, its top elected officials and fellow travelers directed at Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“I’ve been hearing that now they’re talking about impeaching a brilliant jurist, a man that did nothing wrong, a man that was caught up in a hoax set up by the Democrats using the Democrats’ lawyers, and now they want to impeach him,” Trump said yesterday on the South Lawn of the White House.

The Democrats actually don’t want to talk about that. And they want Republicans to forget. Don’t let them, Don. Trump’s bad behavior has alienated a lot of people in the past. But his harsh gibes have resonated with his base, and a lot of never-Trumpers, in the wake of the Kavanaugh matter, are getting on board with him.

To keep Republicans energized, he needs to keep reminding everyone of the deplorable process that just took place in Washington, D.C. This week he will barnstorm the country on the heels of celebrating Kavanaugh’s confirmation, and that’s what he needs to focus on. He will be the key to jazzing up otherwise complacent voters.

Democrats claim they are the party of inclusion — unless you disagree with them. Then your First Amendment right to free speech is replaced by the right to be harassed anytime you go out in public. Democrats and the protesters they encourage are trying to silence millions of Americans who don’t share their views. They claim Trump and the Republicans are undermining our institutions. But they are the ones who now say the Supreme Court has been delegitimized, that Senate votes and the Electoral College are anti-democratic.

They are the ones trying to undermine our institutions.

Trump, in his most petty way possible, should be sure that voters remember the smear campaign they used against a judge with an impeccable reputation, trying to destroy his life and his family’s life. “Hoax” seems to be an appropriate term he should consider repeating.

Trump should remind voters of the gutter tactics and accusations that would never stand up in court.

There’s one thing both parties agree on and that is that D.C. has officially hit rock bottom. Since Trump has no problem getting dirty, this fall’s mudslinging fight will be one for the ages — and Democrats will deserve every hit he lands on them.
