TIME MACHINE TO THE ’80S

-

Brace yourself for the ultimate blast from the past: New Kids On The Block just announced that they have a new tour in the works, and the Boston-born band will be calling on some fellow stars from back in the day to make it happen.

“Well, we like touring with our fans and we’re excited to tour, but we’re bringing guests,” Dorchester’s Donnie Wahlberg said during the announcement, which they group made on the “Today” show yesterday.

“We’re creating a mixtape on tour every night in every city,” he continued about the Mixtape Tour 2019. “It’s going to be fun, happiness, emotions, tears, joy, love most of all.”

Wahlberg and his bandmates — Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre and Danny Wood — are calling on a motley crew of acts to make their onstage throwback experience a reality.

Joining New Kids On The Block in their upcoming time machine shows: ladies-only hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa, which is also slated for a residency in Las Vegas; former pop sensation Tiffany; singer-songwriter Debbie Gibson; and rap trio Naughty by Nature.

The tour will be kicking off in May and will hit 53 cities across the country, including NKOTB’s hometown of Boston on June 28, 2019.

The latest lineup of shows is, in part, a celebration of the band’s 30th anniversary of releasing the album “Hangin’ Tough.”

But the group, which came out of its previous hiatus a decade ago, will also be using it to highlight new music they’ve been making in the studio, like their single, “80s Baby,” which it released yesterday.
