Hub eateries celebrate milestone birthdays with fave dishes

Afew of Boston’s classics on the culinary scene are celebratin­g some big birthdays over the next few weeks. Sonsie is 25 years old, Abe & Louie’s turns 20 this month, the West End sports fan favorite the Harp will be 25 next month and Bella Luna in Jamaica Plain also turns 25 in November. To celebrate, each restaurant has shared with us the recipe to one of their signature dishes so we can try to serve a taste of delicious Hub tradition at home. Sonsie 327 Newbury St.

Patrick Lyons rang in Sonsie’s 25th year on Newbury Street with a big party and he attributes a great deal to his wonderful staff, “Aside from being an especially warm and inviting space, the staff have always been the biggest part of Sonsie’s success.” Even if you weren’t at the party, here is a decadent recipe that you can make to celebrate. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large pot, add cream, milk and split and seeded vanilla bean. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.

Whisk egg yolks and sugar together, add it to the hot cream mixture while stirring.

Add chocolate, stir and then strain through a perforated metal strainer and chill in an ice bath until it reaches room temperatur­e.

In a large bowl, combine all but onefourth of the chocolate mixture and bread (if bread is cold allow it to sit out, reaching room temperatur­e). Let this mixture cool for
