NEW STARS IN ‘WONDERLAND’

-

A host of stars will supposedly be swarming our city to shoot alongside Mark Wahlberg in his latest movie, “Wonderland.” And from what we’ve heard, at least one of the Dorchester native’s new cast members might make the flick “better now.”

For the forthcoming Netflix film, renowned rapper Post Malone will be among the latest additions who’ll be sharing the screen with Wahlberg, Variety reported. The bounteously tattooed artist, who took home American Music Awards for both Favorite Pop/ Rock Male Artist and Favorite Album Rap/Hip-Hop (Beerbongs & Bentleys) just this week, has never caught any camera time. So it’s only fitting that his cinematic debut would be with another celeb whose career moved from music to film, namely Wahlberg.

Besides Post Malone, “Wonderland” will reportedly beckon actors Alan Arkin, Bokeem Woodbine, Hope Wilson and James DuMont to come to Boston. Comedian Iliza Shlesinger — who worked with Wahlberg on “Instant Family,” set for release next month — as well as “Black Panther” alum Winston Duke are also onboard. And let’s not forget, Peter Berg — who’s been behind other Wahlberg productions like “Patriots Day,” “Mile 22” and “Lone Survivor” — is at the helm as director.

As far as plots go, “Wonderland” is an adaptation of Ace Atkins’ novel “Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland” and follows the famous literary character of Spenser. Netflix describes the plot on its website, writing, “Just out of prison and investigating a twisted murder, Spenser is sucked back into Boston’s underbelly.”
