Democrats corner market on hypocrisy

- Michael GRAHAM

That gasp you heard across America yesterday morning was millions of feminists listening to their (former?) hero Hillary Clinton declare that her husband Bill’s treatment of Monica Lewinsky was NOT a #MeToo moment.

“(The affair) wasn’t an abuse of power?” asked CBS’s Tony Dokoupil.

“No. No,” Hillary replied.

“She was an adult.”

Uh — so were the women Harvey Weinstein, Charlie Rose and other prominent liberals used their power to take advantage of. And who’s more powerful than the president of the United States? Or less powerful than a young intern?

But that’s not the only holycrap comment from Hillary Clinton. In that same interview she denied she ever “criticized the character of Bill’s accusers.” Despite calling Gennifer Flowers “trailer trash” and “some failed cabaret singer,” and Lewinsky a “narcissistic loony toon.”

And just a few days ago, she declared the GOP unworthy of basic civility. No civility, she declared, until we Democrats take back power.

In short, Hillary has gone #FullTrump.

She’s not alone. Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has jumped on the Trump-wannabe bandwagon, telling Democrats his new slogan is “When they go low — we kick ’em!”

Last night in New Hampshire, the featured speaker at the state party’s first-ever Eleanor Roosevelt dinner was Alec Baldwin — an actor notorious for his angry, anti-feminist and homophobic rants. Baldwin has repeatedly used the words “queen” and “f*g” to attack gay people and has confessed his own abusive treatment of women.

But the Democrats don’t care. Granite State Dem chair Ray Buckley bragged last night about the sold-out crowd of feminists, progressives and LGBT activists who packed the house to hear Baldwin speak. Who cares how he’s abused women or what he’s called gay people, as long as he is on team “We Hate Trump!”

By the way, it’s the first Eleanor Roosevelt dinner because it used to be the Jefferson/Jackson dinner until political correctness forced the party to change the name three years ago. The Democrats’ new name was the Kennedy-Clinton dinner until somebody finally realized what an anti-feminist fiasco that was.

(“What — was the Weinstein/Weiner dinner already booked?” one Granite State wag asked.)

So which Democratic Party is it? One so sensitive and thinskinned they have to name their fundraisers after dead first ladies? Or one so Trumped-out that a former first lady can go on TV and suggest that a young intern taken advantage of sexually by her presidential boss was basically asking for it?

Democrats, it’s either “selfrighteous political correctness,” or “down-and-dirty Donald Trumpism.” When you try to put the two together, you get something terrible.

It’s called “Hillary Clinton.”
