WEDDING NO SWEAT FOR TRAINOR
If you hear a labored groan, that’ll be Emily Post rolling over in her grave — and it’s likely due to Meghan Trainor and her unconventional wedding ways. The Nantucket native recently spilled several details about her impending nuptials and conveyed that she’s favoring bridal nonchalance over proper etiquette, starting with the invitations.
“My problem is, I’m not sending invites because bleh, like no,” Trainor said during a recent interview with late night host Jimmy Fallon.
“I’m texting people, and I keep accidentally hanging out with friends and being like, ‘Yo, you want to see me get married?’ and then I invite them,” she continued. “And I’m like, ‘Oh no, why did I invite these people?’ ”
Trainor, who got engaged to actor Daryl Sabara of “Spy Kids” fame last December, defended her choice to forgo not only the traditional, hard-copy invitations, but also the ever more popular email invites. The already exhausted bride-to-be argued that a text message at least ensures that intended guests get the memo.
“I’m tired. I don’t wanna pick out a card!” she said. “And what if they don’t get it in the mail? Who checks their mail? They always check their texts … Everyone reads their texts, even if they don’t respond.”
As far as the other logistics for the pair’s upcoming walk down the aisle, it sounds like Trainor has only checked the basics off her “I do” to-do list. She confirmed that they’ve picked a date and that their big day will be in winter. The season was specifically chosen so she doesn’t sweat, a concern she has because of its Los Angeles location and because of her propensity to perspire.
Upon hearing Trainor’s weather worries, Fallon offered up his show’s airconditioned studio for the ceremony.
And it almost seemed like the “All About That Bass” singer was all about the backup plan, at least jokingly, and encouraged the talk-show star to secure a license so he could officiate.
“Don’t mess with me,” she said. “Because I’ll come back here and be like, ‘I’m having a wedding!’ and I’ll just be wearing a white dress.”
