Westie captures crown

Lazarus McBean made his only completion of the game count.

He threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Luis Pena with four seconds left to give West Roxbury (5-2) a 36-28 victory over TechBoston to clinch the Boston North title.

Talif Stewart ran for 130 yards and two scores for the Raiders, while Carlos Roche added a TD run and three successful two-point conversion attempts.

TechBoston (3-4) held a 28-14 lead in the third quarter due in large part to the sensationa­l running of Marcus Gonzalez, who went over the 200-yard mark for the fourth straight week, amassing 213 yards and two scores. Quarterbac­k Essau Jackson added the other two touchdowns for the Bears.

Elsewhere in Boston North, Zach Maffeo, Laurent Lensky, Ryan Nguyen and Robert Marek all ran for touchdowns as Latin Academy (4-3) built up a big lead before holding off East Boston, 29-28.

With 41.7 seconds left in regulation and the score tied 33-33, Tyler Noe returned a kick off 78 yards to give Old Rochester (7-0) a 40-33 victory over Case to capture the South Coast Conference title. Noe had another touchdown in the game on a 34yard sweep down the right sideline in the third quarter, but it was the Bulldogs secondary that shined with four intercepti­ons.

Despite the picks, junior quarterbac­k Daniel Silva played well for Case (6-1), completing 14-of-25 passes for 301 yards and four touchdowns, two through the air and two on the ground.

Shaheed Barros corralled a 35-yard touchdown pass from Tru Williams, and returned a fumble recovery 20 yards for a score as New Bedford (3-4) defeated Brockton, 18-0, in the Big Three.

Xaverian (5-1) held strong defensivel­y and got touchdowns from Michael Masse and Justin Wenstrom, in a 14-0 win over BC High in the Catholic Conference.

Connor Bryant ran for two touchdowns and threw for a third as Methuen (5-2) topped Lawrence 35-13, in the Merrimack Valley Large.

Freddy Gabin rushed for 153 yards and two TDs on five carries, leading North Andover (7-0) to a 35-14 win over Billerica in the Merrimack Valley Small.

Kyle Connolly ran for 112 yards, finishing with four total scores as Falmouth (6-0) remained undefeated with a 30-16 victory over Nauset in the Atlantic Coast League.

Will Lederman tossed three touchdown passes, two to wideout Max Ferrucci, as Natick (5-2) cruised to a 49-0 win over Brookline in the Bay State Carey.

Billy Silvia ran for one TD and returned a punt for another score as Braintree (43) topped Weymouth 28-10 in the Bay State Herget.

Vinnie Holmes struck for three touchdown runs, leading Mansfield (6-1) to a 36-8 victory over Hockomock Kelley-Rex foe Oliver Ames. The victory was the 250th in the coaching career of Hornets coach Mike Redding.

Adam Bowler rushed for two scores and tossed three touchdown passes, including the game-winner to Leo Minniti with 21 seconds remaining, lifting Arlington (2-5) to a 34-31 win over Belmont in the Middlesex Liberty . . . . Mason Hatfield rushed for 141 yards and two rushing scores to power Lexington (5-2) to a 32-7 rout over Woburn . ... Matt Sannella rushed for two scores for Reading (6-1) in a 36-16 win over Winchester.

Christos Argyropoul­os scored twice on the ground for Stoneham (7-0) in a 36-7 victory over Wilmington in the Middlesex Freedom.

Prince Brown hauled in two touchdown passes and ran for a third score in a 4113 win for Lynn English (6-1) over Winthrop in the Northeaste­rn Conference Tier 3. ... Graham Inzana and Jonathan Oriakhi linked up for two TDs while Zack Palmer added a 60-yard punt return as Swampscott (6-1) took a 42-0 victory over Saugus.

John Roberts started the game with a 74-yard scoring scamper and finished with 284 all-purpose yards as Duxbury (7-0) blanked Silver Lake, 36-0, in the Patriot Keenan . . . . Ethan Phelps produced all three touchdowns and 124 yards on 17 chances, fueling Whitman-Hanson (52) to a 21-0 shutout of Plymouth North.

Ethan Ritchie compiled 122 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries for Hanover (5-2) in a 28-17 win over Patriot Fisher rival North Quincy. Raiders quarterbac­k Tim Layden passed for 227 yards to reach 2,383 in his varsity career, breaking North Quincy’s all-time passing mark.

Will Hunter broke a 56yard TD scamper to open the game, and Masconomet (3-4) never looked back, rolling to a 28-8 victory over Triton in the Cape Ann Kinney.

Nic Tardanico finished with 15 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown, while piling up 13 tackles and an intercepti­on as Archbishop Williams (3-4) upended Arlington Catholic, 29-6, in a Catholic Central Large tilt.

Ryan Flaherty completed 16-of-26 passes for 260 yards and a score, while Tyler Martel added two rushing touchdowns as Dedham (6-1) sailed past Dover-Sherborn, 24-10, in the Tri-Valley Small.

Jay Wladkowski scored three touchdowns as Norwood (1-6) snapped a statelong 25-game losing streak with a 21-2 win over Medfield in the Tri-Valley Large.

Ben Bostrom broke away for a 44-yard touchdown in the fourth to put Norwell (43) ahead for good in a 12-7 win over South Shore Sullivan rival Middleboro.

Brent Dixon ran for three TDs, helping carry Apponequet (4-3) to a 42-19 win over Bourne in the South Coast Conference crossover game.

Lucas Gebolys produced three touchdowns, but it was Matt Rubino’s plunge in the final 13 seconds that gave Austin Prep (4-3) a 28-22 win over St. John Paul in the Catholic Central Small.

The ground game soared for Northeast (5-2) in a 51-6 win over Commonweal­th Athletic League Large foe Whittier (3-4), as Zach Sanderson ran for 263 yards and four touchdowns. Sean O’Brien added 100 yards and two TDs.

James Wohob racked up 190 yards on the ground to go with a pair of touchdowns, as Blue Hills (2-5) coasted to a 28-0 shutout of South Shore Voke in the Mayflower Athletic Conference Small.

Christian Keeling ran for 280 yards and five TDs on eight carries to power West Bridgewate­r (6-1) to a 35-14 win over Holbrook/Avon in Mayflower Athletic Comprehens­ive play.

Devaun Ford rushed for three touchdowns to lift Mashpee (7-0) to a 30-24 nonleague victory over St. Mary’s . . . . Aidan Sullivan and Will Sheskey supplied five rushing TDs, including three from Sullivan, as Scituate (5-1) rolled past East Bridgewate­r, 44-7 . ... Jordan Benoit and Michael Dematteo combined to rush for four touchdowns as Hamden Hall (CT) (2-3) topped Marshfield, 32-21.
