With a World Seriesthemed shirt, Boston organizations are working to fight homelessness.

Mitch Modell, CEO of Modell’s Sporting Goods, announced his investment with the Boston’s Way Home organization to help raise money to eliminate chronic homelessness in the city.

“It is a great honor to associate ourselves with a great city and great organizations with Boston’s Way Home fund,” Modell said.

Modell joins organizations such as Liberty Mutual, Bank of America, Partners Healthcare and Suffolk Construction to work with the nonprofit, which to this day has housed more than 850 homeless veterans.

Modell’s Sporting Goods will be selling “Beat LA” T-shirts for the World Series, with $1 of each sold going toward the organization.

“We’re excited to team up with Mayor (Martin J.) Walsh and the Boston’s Way Home Fund to help the local community during this exciting time for Boston,” said Modell. “Together we can help ‘Beat LA’ and beat homelessness.”

The Boston’s Way Home fund was created this year as a pathway for homeless veterans to find permenant, stable housing. Since its creation, the organization has raised more than $3 million.

“We have housed over 1,800 chronically homeless people that have houses permanently and tonight can sit in their homes and watch the Red Sox beat the Dodgers, so it is exciting,” Walsh said.
