Dartmouth still perfect

Takes down Harvard, improves to 7-0

Quarterbac­k Jared Gerbino ran for 183 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries and Rashaad Cooper added 117 yards and a score on just 11 attempts as Dartmouth remained undefeated with a 24-17 victory against Harvard yesterday in Hanover, N.H. It was Dartmouth’s first victory against Harvard in 15 years and its first win against the Crimson at home in 25 seasons. Dartmouth’s win sets up an Ivy League showdown with unbeaten Princeton next week in New Jersey. The Big Green (7-0, 4-0) used just two plays and 18 seconds to grab a 7-0 lead when Cooper raced 82 yards for a touchdown. Dartmouth stretched its lead to 14-0 in the first quarter on D.J. Terry’s 62-yard fumble-return touchdown. The Big Green upped their advantage to 21-0 at halftime when Gerbino scored on a 20-yard run. The Crimson (4-3, 1-3) got on the board in the third on Aaron Shampklin’s 7-yard run to pull within 21-7. Connor Davis kicked a 28-yard field goal to put Dartmouth up 24-7 with 9:34 left to play. Tom Stewart’s 22-yard TD run got Harvard closer, but the Crimson fell short. — Geoff Wade threw for four touchdown passes, Domenic Cozier ran for a career-high 208 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries and the Crusaders (2-6, 1-2 Patriot) blanked the Mountain Hawks (1-7, 0-3) in Worcester. In Top 25 games: Holy Cross 56, Lehigh 0 Clemson 59, Florida 10 — Trevor Lawrence threw four touchdown passes, and the No. 2 Tigers (8-0, 5-0 ACC) handed the Seminoles (4-4, 2-4) their worst home loss in program history with a blowout in Tallahasse­e, Fla. Lawrence completed 20of-37 passes for 314 yards before leaving late in the third quarter. Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers each had two touchdown receptions. Georgia 36, Florida 17 — Jake Fromm threw three touchdown passes, ending speculatio­n about freshman Justin Fields supplantin­g him, and Jacksonvil­le, Fla. Georgia took advantage of Florida’s three turnovers and an injury to cornerback C.J. Henderson to win The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party for the second straight year. Oklahoma 51, Kansas State 14— Kyler Murray passed for 352 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score to help the No. 8 Sooners (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) crush the Wildcats (3-4, 1-4) in Norman, Okla. Kentucky 15, Missouri 14 — Terry Wilson threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Conrad on the final play to lift the No. 12 Wildcats (7-1, 5-1 SEC) past the Tigers (4-4, 1-4) in Columbia, Mo. California 12, Washington 10 — Linebacker Evan Weaver scored on a 36-yard intercepti­on return in the third quarter after the No. 15 Huskies (6-3, 4-2 Pac-12) made a change at quarterbac­k, and the Golden Bears (5-3, 2-3) overcome a sluggish day offensivel­y to prevail. Penn State 30, Iowa 24 — Nick Scott intercepte­d a pass to thwart the No. 18 Hawkeyes (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten) at the 2 with 3:18 left and the No. 17 Nittany Lions (6-2, 3-2) held on to avoid a third straight home loss in State College, Pa. Northweste­rn 31, Wisconsin 17— Clayton Thorson ran for two touchdowns and threw another to help the Widcats (5-3, 5-1 Big Ten) beat the No. 20 Badgers (5-3, 3-2) in Evanston, Ill. Houston 57, South Florida 36 — D’Eriq King had a hand in a career-high seven TDs, throwing for 419 yards and five scores and running for 134 yards and two more touchdowns as the Cougars (7-1, 4-0 American) stunned the No. 21 Bulls (7-1, 3-1) in Houston.
