SIDETRACK
ALEXA, PLAY “DIRTY WATER”:
Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO, was spotted in Cambridge this weekend. We’re told the famous billionaire — the richest man in the world, actually — dropped by Sumiao Kitchen in Kendall Square to have dinner with his wife, MacKenzie Bezos, and family on Saturday night. Word is, the Bezos party was “warm and easygoing,” and their order included plates of house crispy duck and stir-fried okra. CASTING ACROSS THE POND: Cambridge-raised star Mindy Kaling and her former “Mindy Project” partner Matt Warburton have the ball rolling when it comes to casting their latest project “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” The duo just announced that Jessica Williams,
“2 Dope Queens” star and “Daily Show” vet, will reportedly play the lead role in their upcoming limited Hulu series, which is inspired by the 1994 Oscar-nominated rom-com of the same name. Also rounding out the cast: Nikesh
Patel (known for his work on “Indian Summers”), Rebecca
Rittenhouse (“The Mindy Project”) and John Reynolds
(“Search Party”). The synopsis of the streaming show, which is slated for release in 2019, is as follows: “Jess (played by Williams), the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate, now living in London. She leaves her professional and personal life behind, in favor of traveling to England and reconnecting with old friends and ends up in the midst of their personal crises. Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course there are four weddings… and a funeral.” DESIGNATED CONVERT: Casey Affleck has apparently prompted girlfriend Floriana Lima to see the light — when it comes to baseball teams, anyway. The “Supergirl” star shared a photo of herself and the Academy Award-winning actor at Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday night. Despite their ties to Hollywood, the duo revealed that their loyalties don’t lie with Los Angeles, as they both supported Boston by wearing Red
Sox hats and sweatshirts at Dodger Stadium.
