Walker propels Hornets

Kemba Walker had 29 points and seven assists, extending his strong start to the season as the Hornets beat the Atlanta Hawks 113102 last night in Charlotte, N.C.

Marvin Williams added 20 points for the Hornets, who won for the third time on a four-game homestand. Walker has scored 25 or more seven times in 11 games.

Jeremy Lamb and Malik Monk each had 13 points for Charlotte. Nic Batum scored 10 points.

Playing against his former team, Jeremy Lin had 19 points off the bench to lead the Hawks, who led by seven late in the first half.

Mavericks 119, Wizards 100 — Luka Doncic scored 23 points and Wesley Matthews added 22, leading host Dallas to a win over Washington. The Mavericks had dropped six straight games since their 2-1 start but knocked down 15 3-pointers against a lax Wizards defense.

Washington, coming off the best performanc­e of its season in a 10-point win over the Knicks, was back in the disappoint­ing form it’s shown all season. John Wall led the way with 24 points and 10 assists.

Nets 104, Suns 82 — Caris LeVert scored 26 points, D’Angelo Russell added 15 and visiting Brooklyn beat struggling Phoenix.

The Nets won their third game in the past four, while the Suns have lost 8-of-9.

Elsewhere in the NBA — Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook will miss tonight’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers because of a sprained left ankle. . . .

Veteran center Tyson Chandler has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers two days after reaching a buyout agreement with the Suns.

The 36-year-old Chandler will provide frontcourt depth for the Lakers. . . .

Cavaliers forward Sam Dekker could be out a month with a sprained left ankle.
