Lewandowski: Econ favors GOP in next election cycle

- By JOE DWINELL Jordan Frias contributed to this report.

The blue wave in the House isn’t what voters will remember, Corey Lewandowski said yesterday.

The economy will count the most come the 2020 elections, he said.

“Every time somebody goes home and they open up their paycheck once a week or they open up their retirement plan once a month or whatever it may be, there’s more money in it than there was the week before or two years ago,” Trump’s former campaign manager said on Adriana Cohen’s Boston Herald Radio show.

Tax cuts and deregulation, he said, have shown results.

“When you go to the bal- lot box, you ask yourself the simple question, ‘Am I better off today than I was two years ago?’ and by every economic measure the answer is yes,” he said.

That accounted for Republican wins in the U.S. Senate, where the GOP held onto the majority, he added.

As for working with a Democratic-controlled U.S. House, Lewandowski said Trump will start dealing.

“He knows how to work across party lines when it's the right thing to do and when it becomes transportation-infrastructure funding, he's going to work with the House to get that done,” he added. “You can't shut the government down for two years simply because Nancy Pelosi has become the speaker, you have to find a way to work together.”
