Designer brings styles to Chestnut Hill
India Hicks has brought a slice of England to Boston this week, as the famed designer, lifestyle guru and former supermodel hosted a charitable trunk show right at Davio’s Chestnut Hill.
While on this side of the Pond, Hicks set up shop at the local Italian eatery, showcasing an assortment of items from her British brand, including handbags, jewelry, beauty products and homeware. Davio’s owner, Steve DiFillippo, and his wife, Pam, joined their close friend Hicks at the popup, which benefited The B Fund.
Other notable names who were seen among the 100 or so shoppers: Anna Rossi, host of NBC10 Boston’s “The Hub
Today”; Lisa Pierpont, editor of Boston Common magazine; and Lisa Donovan, on-air talent for Kiss 108’s “Matty in the Morning” show. As guests browsed through Hick’s designs, they snacked on a slew of luncheon apps, including mini popovers with sirloin steak, Maine crab cakes with aioli, chicken salad sandwiches and skewers of tomato, basil and mozzarella.
Besides Hicks’ renowned reputation in the lifestyle realm, the best-selling author is also known for her ties to the British aristocracy. She’s the daughter of Lady Pamela
Mountbatten and famed designer David Nightingale, making her the second cousin and goddaughter of Prince
Charles. As ’80s junkies may recall, she also served as one of Princess Diana’s bridesmaids when she wed the Prince of Wales in 1981.
In Hicks’ latest book, “A Slice of England,” she gives an inside look at her English country home, America Farm, while also telling the stories behind her family’s famous properties, like Broadlands Estate, Britwell House and The Grove. As part of the Chestnut Hill shindig, she sat down to sign copies of the book, mingling and taking photos with guests.
