Dashawn, 9, loves football
Dashawn is an easygoing 9-year-old of African-American and Caucasian descent who is eager to please adults. Initially shy, he warms up once he feels comfortable. He loves football, which he plays through his school. Other favorite activities include video games, action figures and Play-Doh. Dashawn often picks up books and enjoys quiet time. His foster mother describes him as helpful, and he always makes his bed and helps with the dishes. Dashawn is a smart boy who does well academically. He is in the third grade in a regular education classroom. He has positive peer relationships at school. Legally freed for adoption, Dashawn seeks a loving family. His social worker is open to families of any constellation where Dashawn can be the only or youngest child in the home. There will most likely be an open adoption agreement.
Who can adopt?
Can you provide the guidance, love and stability that a child needs? If you’re at least 18 years old, have a stable source of income and room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ singles and couples.
The process to adopt a child from foster care requires training, interviews and home visits to determine if adoption is right for you, and if so, to help connect you with a child or sibling group that your family will be a good match for.
To learn more about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange at 617964-6273 or go to mareinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have “a permanent place to call home.”
