Ivanka email reboots outrage
Suddenly, it’s an issue for Dems
Funny how the whole email outrage thing works.
Giddy Democrats and leftwing media suddenly care about email compliance now that it’s come out that Ivanka Trump used her personal email for government busi- ness.
You’ll recall when Hillary Clinton used a private email system and rogue servers hidden in her Chappaqua bathroom while secretary of state — jeopardizing America’s national security — the left yawned.
When James Comey, the ousted FBI director, told us former President Barack Obama’s top diplomat was “extremely careless” handling classified information, we soon learned that intel ended up on Anthony Weiner’s laptop, that guy jailed for sexting with a minor.
Nor did the left lose any sleep when Hillary and her henchmen destroyed over 30,000 emails — under FBI investigation mind you — and wiped servers with BleachBit and smashed devices with a hammer.
To the contrary, during the first televised 2016 Democratic primary debate Bernie Sanders shouted, “I’m sick and tired of hearing about your emails!” To which Clinton replied, “Me too!”
But now that Ivanka has stepped in it, as well as reportedly a few other White House officials, Democrats and the media are fascinated with proper email protocols. Go figure.
Democrats also weren’t bothered when news broke recently that Comey also used private emails during his official duties at the FBI — nor did they blink when Colin Powell said he did, too.
There’s no question that Ivanka Trump and members of the Trump administration should’ve known better. They should have paid more attention to adhering to the rules surrounding government email communications given the outrage Republicans feigned over Clinton’s emails throughout the 2016 election.
Clinton’s email fiasco was a major source of contention and effective cudgel Trump used at his rallies and beyond to bash his political opponent. Now the current administration looks like hypocrites while the left is having a field day exposing the paradox.
Do you blame them? It’s a tone-deaf move which will test, if not tarnish, Ivanka’s future political ambitions, that’s for sure.
