LET THERE BE LIGHT: “The Great Christmas Light Fight” is gearing up for its latest season, and you know what that means: Boston’s own Taniya Nayak will once again grace our TV screens and make our days merry and especially bright. The ABC show will be kicking off its sixth season Monday, with a whole new crew of families competing against each other as they try to create the most epic exhibits of holiday cheer. Nayak, a renowned interior design based here in the Hub, will be returning as co-host alongside

Carter Oosterhous­e ,asthey showcase some of the most spectacula­r displays of Christmas decor in the country. Each one-hour episode will feature four families as they illuminate their homes — all in the hopes of winning the ultimate Christmas gift, the coveted Light Fight trophy and $50,000.

CLAUS ON THE CHARLES: Santa is ditching his sleigh when he drops by Cambridge Side this Black Friday. The man in red will be rolling up to the local mall via riverboat, docking on the Charles before proceeding to greet eager children and their families at Canal Park, outside the food court. His waterbound arrival is scheduled for 10 a.m., and we’re told that the first 50 shoppers who meet with Saint Nick will be given special gifts, which could include $100 gift cards or tickets to the Dr. Seuss classic “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” at the Boch Center

Wang Theatre. Presents are first come, first served, but everyone can snap a pic with the big guy for free through Christmas Eve.
