A development project in South Boston would bring 120 new housing units and commercial space.

Charlie Damrell LLC is proposing to build a mixeduse building at 10 Damrell St., according to project documents filed with the Boston Planning & Development Agency. It would raze the existing building previously occupied by a warehouse and food storage facility.

The site is within walking distance to the Andrew and Broadway T stations.

Developers said in the filing the scope and scale of the project’s “residential component is intended to advance the housing creation goals” as part of Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s Boston 2030 housing plan.

The new development, which would include 105,000 square feet, would have 55 garage parking spac- es and approximately 5,000 square feet of retail space.

Boston-based RODE Architects, the project designers, “will contribute to this vision of a dynamic streetscape and distinctive skyline” according to the letter.

The two-story brick warehouse was sold for $4.2 million to Charlie Damrell LLC in April 2017, according to filings with the Suffolk County Registry.

“We will now commence extensive community outreach and plan to work closely with abutters and other neighbors ... in order to further refine a development project that we hope will be met with considerable public support,” the project filing states.

Developers say they will file more detailed plans, which will launch community meetings and formal review by the BPDA.
