Dr. Kenneth B. Snell of Berlin, Vt., formerly of Lexington, died Nov. 3. He was 87.
He grew up in Orange, Conn. He graduated from Dartmouth College and Boston University Medical School.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Dr. Snell practiced medicine at North Shore Radiology Associates.
He traveled the seven continents of the world and especially loved Africa, where his appreciation for animals was captured in countless beautiful photographs.
He was known for his homegrown tomato sauce, hot apple pies and for his elaborate Halloween costumes that delighted trick-ortreaters from around the neighborhood.
Dr. Snell enjoyed canoeing, woodworking, painting and watching the Celtics. He had a keen mind and quick wit appreciated by all who knew him.
He is survived by four daughters, Vicki (and John) Steinberg of Chattanooga, Tenn., Cindy Snell (and Martin Hwang) of Lexington, Suzie (and Eric) Hanson of Seattle, and Laura (and Stephen) Murphy of Woodbury, Vt.; a sister, Mary Mullen; eight grandchildren, Hannah, Aaron, Alex, Owen, Ben, Julia, Maverick, and Seville; and his former wife, Carol of Lexington. Dr. Snell was predeceased by brothers Donald and Robert.
A celebration of life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Dec. 9 at Munroe Center for the Arts, 1403 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington.
