Historic win for Framingham vs. Natick
Framingham and Natick played their first Thanksgiving game in 1904, eight years before baseball’s oldest stadium, Fenway Park, opened in 1912.
Those historical components fused last night, as the two Bay State Carey Division rivals met for the 113th edition of the annual contest, with the Flyers (6-5) earning a 14-6 victory over the Redhawks (6-5), under the lights at Fenway.
“It validates that what we are doing is working,” Framingham coach Ed Mantie said. “This was a one-win team two years ago, and to play that well on this stage, it says a lot about the buy-in that they’ve demonstrated.”
Framingham opened the scoring 1:44 into the second quarter capping off an 11 play drive with a handoff to Reece Lachance who scampered through the Natick defense 11 yards for a score.
“I trust the line so much that they’re going to leave me a hole,” said Lachance, who had 120 yards on 28 carrries. “I just put my head down and run hard.”
Junior quarterback Jack Beverly (11-of-16, 192 yards) unloaded a 62-yard bomb to R.J. Viele (four catches, 157 yards) who was off to the races for a touchdown with 1:33 to go before halftime. A Lachance two-point rush would make it 14-0.
“It was great protection from the O-line,” Beverly said. “That was huge for us in the passing game tonight.”
After a three-and-out to open the third, Natick was forced to punt, but the ball bounced off a Framingham player and into the endzone where Aedan Knowlton fell on it to make it 14-6.
The Flyers broke a six year losing streak with the win and improve to 33-75-5 in a contest that has been dominated by the Redhawks.

Dennis-Yarmouth in an Atlantic Coast League thriller.
Anthony Caggianelli ran for one score and caught a TD pass to give Central Catholic (8-3) a 39-12 win over
Lawrence, securing the MVC Large title outright.

Wellington Pereira ran wild with 325 yards and five touchdowns on just 17 carries to lead Wayland (8-3) past Weston, 48-8 in the Dual County League.
Tim D’Ambrosia, Nick Gugliotta and Stan Koff all produced rushing touchdowns while Ryan Jones picked up 95 yards on 16 carries to propel Bishop Feehan
(6-5) over Eastern Athletic Conference rival Bishop

Brendan White caught four touchdown passes, three from Colby Pires, as Milford (6-5) rolled to a 33-0 nonleague win over Maynard.
Zach Sanderson amassed 169 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries, surpassing the 2,000-yard mark for the season as Northeast (9-3) waltzed to a 40-6 victory against Commonwealth Athletic Conference rival Essex Tech. Brighton (4-7) rushed for over 500 yards, including 145 yards and two scores on four carries for Kendrell Ledbetter in a 42-0 victory over Chelsea. Louis Montina’s 5-yard TD run with 16 seconds left gave Somerville (4-7) a 23-19 win over Cambridge.
Ian Nichols ran for three scores and also picked off a pass as Lowell Catholic (5-6) defeated Greater Lowell, 28-18.
