Robert ‘Bob’ Delmastro, formerly of Melrose, 84, founding church member

Robert R. “Bob” Delmastro of Newbury, N.H., formerly of Melrose, died Nov. 29 at the Genesis Lebanon Center in New Hampshire. He was 84.

He was born and raised in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School.

He attended Northeaste­rn University.

Mr. Delmastro served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a former service manager, general manager and president of Pioneer Engineerin­g Co. of Salem and American Engineerin­g for 28 years prior to opening Del Aire Inc. in Melrose from 1983 to 1989.

He was a parishione­r, Eucharisti­c minister and founding member of the Church of the Incarnatio­n in Melrose, where he taught CCD classes and served as a board member for many years.

He was an avid Boston sports fan and was a member of the Melrose Elks Club and the Local #537 Pipe Fitters Union for many years.

He liked to coach baseball, play cards, travel to Italy, Spain and Venezuela, and time at the family camp in Sanford, Maine.

Husband of the late Margaret C. (Currier), Mr. Delmastro is survived by five daughters, Sharon Black of Methuen, Joanne Whaley of Florida, Darlene and Debra Beliveau of Saugus, and Susan Baldasaro of New Hampshire; three sons, Robert Jr. of Wenham, William of Melrose and Richard of Florida; 21 grandchild­ren; six great-grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Church of the Incarnate, Melrose.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
