STOP THE ‘STACHE
Chris Evans calls pic usean ‘actof aggression’
Chris Evans had to address a very hairy situation — literally. The Boston-born actor just spoke out on social media, razzing Entertainment Tonight Canada for using a photo of him with some unfortunate facial hair in a recent article.
“This is clearly an act of aggression. There are literally hundreds of photos to choose from,” Evans wrote on Twitter about the image, which specifically showed him sporting a mustache of Tom Selleck proportions.
“What did I ever do to you, Canada?” he added. Evans — whom we’ll see reprising his role as Marvel superhero Captain America when “Avengers: Endgame” hits the big screen in April — was photographed with the offending fuzz while he was walking the red carpet at the opening night of the Broadway play “Lobby Hero” last year. In the Kenneth Lonergan production, Evans was cast as a cop named Bill, which of course required him to grow a wooly upper-lip warmer. He had to refrain from shaving the ’stache for the duration of the play’s run, from March to May 2018. ET Canada, which attached the picture in question to a story about Evans’ upcoming role in Antoine Fuqua’s latest project, “Infinite,” shook off the star’s response like true pros and even tried to parlay the online interaction into acquiring new visual material. “Any chance you can send us a selfie to swap into the gallery?” our northern neighbors’ version of ET responded to Evans’ tweet. “The Broadway ‘stache is all Getty is providing for recent pics. We are hoping this gallery entry will redeem us.” In defense of the Maple Leaf nation, Netflix Canada also rushed to its rescue and tried to smooth things over with Evans, replying to the Twitter thread, “On behalf of all Canadians, here is a thread of hot Chris Evans photos. Consider this our big heartfelt (and kind of@selfish) ‘SORRY.’ ”
