Aerosmith star ceremony postponed
It seems that Aerosmith has to wait even longer before it can relish its star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame . The band was sprinting down the homestretch and about to receive its piece of five-pointed pavement on Thursday, but the Los Angeles ceremony ended up being postponed at the last minute due to flash flooding.
“Folks, we tried to get our star today … but it’s underwater and we don’t have enough scuba tanks for the fans!!” frontman Steven Tyler announced with comic relief. “New date for the (Hollywood Walk of Fame) coming soon!! Stay tuned and stay dry! We love and thank you all!”
Both Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry had been giddy all week as they teased their group’s impending star, showing snaps of the work in progress so people could drool over the poured concrete. The whole gang had been slated to join the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to see the finished product and officially mark their sidewalk spot at 6752 Hollywood Blvd. on Thursday morning.
“Finally! We have been waiting a long time to honor Aerosmith with their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, had said in a statement announc- ing the honor last week. “Aerosmith is one of the greatest rock bands in the world and we expect many fans will be ‘Crazy’ excited to see them honored!”
Unfortunately for our Bad Boys from Boston, Southern California has been walloped with torrential rain this winter — an unusual alternative to their seasonal bouts of drought. But we’ll be keeping our eyes open for the TBD makeup date because we, um, don’t want to miss a thing.
