Madeleine Rogissart, at 91, of New Bedford, lay minister, supermarke­t worker

Madeleine Y. (Payant) Rogissart of New Bedford died Tuesday at home. She was 91.

She was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Anthony Grammar and High School.

She worked in the meat department at Fernandes Supermarke­t and as a purchasing agent for the main kitchen at Sacred Heart Nursing Home until retirement.

Mrs. Rogissart was a communican­t of Sacred Heart Church, where she was in the choir, and became a Eucharisti­c minister at the church until it closed.

Mrs. Rogissart gave communion at St. Luke’s Hospital for many years and at St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she was also a communican­t.

She was a member of the French organizati­on A.C.A. and St. Mary’s Golden Agers in Fairhaven.

Wife for 51 years of the late Marcel Jr., she is survived by three sons, Paul of Fort Worth, Texas, Normand of Grand Prairie, Texas, and David of Plymouth; three daughters, Muriel Shures of Beavercree­k, Ohio, Claudette Deneault of Acushnet, and Diane Insley of New Bedford; two sisters, Rita Cardoza of Easton and Lucille Breton of Fairhaven; 10 grandchild­ren; 11 great-grandchild­ren; two great-great-grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford.

Burial will be in Massachuse­tts National Cemetery, Bourne.
