STORAGE SCORES!
Contents of Mark Wahlberg’s abandoned lockers auctioned off
You know the saying: One man’s forgotten storage locker loot is another man’s treasure, especially when Mark Wahlberg is the original owner. A whole haul of the Dorchesterraised actor’s old belongings was reportedly discovered in abandoned storage units in California, and a portion of those possessions were just auctioned off outside LA.
A friend of “Storage Wars” star Rene
Nezhoda apparently came about the Hollywood treasure trove by mere chance, the reality star recently told TMZ. Nezhoda’s pal, whom he only named as
Kevin, supposedly spent $3G for three lockers at a storage facility in San Fernando Valley a few weeks ago. When he went to inspect the contents of his new units, he discovered he had actually stumbled upon a wealth of Wahlberg’s personal items from early in his career, when he was still just catching his big break.
Among the goodies that the buyer managed to recover: some of the star’s old pieces of furniture, trophies, golf photos and mementos from when he was still singing and rapping as Marky Mark and filming the 1997 movie “Boogie Nights.” Most of the load went up for grabs this weekend, apparently with the actor’s blessing.
But not everything made it onto the auction block. A share of super sentimental items — like family photos, kids’ handprints and a dog’s ashes — were also reportedly found in the unit. Rather than selling those more intimate articles with the rest of the lot, the locker’s new owner is said to have pinned down Wahlberg’s management team to ensure they were returned to him.
