Hollywood’s favorite fictional Harvard grad may actually be making a return to the big screen. Reese Witherspoon, who famously starred as the lovably bubbly Crimson-educated lawyer Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde,” just dropped a little intel on the film franchise and its expected third installment.

“Oh yeah, we’re meeting about it,” Witherspoon said of “Legally Blonde 3” while on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Monday.

“I mean, we’re definitely talking about it. I don’t know. Do you guys want to see ‘Legally Blonde 3’?” Witherspoon proceeded to ask the studio audience, whose roaring cheers hinted at a unanimous yes. “I mean it’s sort of about women being underestimated and I think it’s a good idea. That things have changed, but not that much has changed!”

The Oscar-winning actress first appeared as the iconic, perpetually pink-clad Harvard Law student in the 2001 classic, before proceeding to star in its sequel, “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde,” in 2003. Witherspoon previously confirmed that a third movie was in the works last June, writing on social media, “It’s true… #LegallyBlonde3,” and posting a clip that replicated the famous sequined-bikini scene from her character’s Harvard Law School video application. At the same time, its production company MGM echoed Reese’s statement, adding that the flick was slated for release on Valentine’s Day 2020.

“I love playing that character and she’s so, so amazing,” Witherspoon said of the prospect of reprising the role of Elle this week. “I don’t know. If you guys want it, I guess I’ll do it.”
