Gronk jokes he’s a ‘shoo-in’ for hotel job
Rob Gronkowski has dreams of going pro — with his pool-hopping habit. The retired Patriot just jokingly applied via video to a job as Hotels.com’s first-ever poolhop, making a case for his aquatic qualifications that would make him an ideal candidate.
“You know, I think I know someone perfect for that job,” Gronk said in the clip before showing off his water-bound talents by doing cannonballs and wading around the kiddie pool.
Per the travel site, its hired poolhop would be obligated to hit up six hotels across the country in two weeks this August. Other duties will include “travel to some of the most incredible hotel pools across the country, sip on fruity drinks, snap some photos, sport a hotel robe and report back to reward-loving Hotels.com fans.”
Honestly, that description doesn’t seem to stray too far from any regular day for Mr. Good-Time Gronkowski, who’s already been spotted at a couple of pool parties since hanging up his cleats, including in Las Vegas and nearby in Springfield. Plus, the gig has an added perk of a $10G stipend, in addition to having air fare and accommodations fully paid.
“You all know I’m on the job hunt, so I obviously already applied,” Gronkowski said. He then encouraged fans, “Even though I’m probably a shoo-in, you can apply, too.”
His brother Chris Gronkowski also made an appearance in the video, which was shared on social media. The fellow former NFL player supplied a reference for his younger bro, which turned into near-pleas that the travel site employ the ex-Pat and keep him busy.
“Ever since Rob retired, he’s been driving our family crazy,” Chris said, adding that the gig “is exactly what it needs.”
“Please hire my brother,” he continued. “We all need this.”
And if Gronk’s aspiring career as a poolhop doesn’t pan out, one might point out that the Patriots also need a tight end. Just saying.
