Revs acquire Argentine Bou

- — JOHN CONNOLLY

Bruce Arena made his first roster addition as Revolution sporting director and coach yesterday when the team acquired Argentine forward Gustavo Bou.

The 29-year-old Bou was added as a Designated Player under Tuesday’s opening of the 2019 MLS Secondary Transfer Window. Bou arrives from Mexican League side Tijuana, where he scored 21 goals in 55 appearances over two years. Reports indicate the transfer fees and guaranteed salary could add up to $16 million with bonuses and other options.

“He’s good on the attack and has a lot of quality. I think he’s going to help us,” Arena said after the team practiced for tomorrow night’s game at D.C. United.

In other Revs news, 20year-old Justin Rennicks of South Hamilton was named to the 22-man MLS Homgrown Team that will take on Mexico’s reigning Under20 champions, Chivas de Guadalajara, on July 30 in Orlando, Fla., as part of MLS All-Star weekend.

B’s re-sign Heinen

The Bruins took care of one of their restricted free agents Tuesday night, signing Danton Heinen to a twoyear deal with an average annual value of $2.8 million.

Heinen, a left-shot forward, had been scheduled for an arbitration hearing Aug. 3. He will be an RFA again in the summer of 2022.

According to capfriendly.com, the B’s now have $7.3 million left under the cap for next season, and that does not appear to be enough to sign the remaining two RFAs
