A KOWLOON SURPRISE!
Family throws Scott Brown a premature 60th birthday party
It seems Scott Brown was caught quite off-guard this weekend, when the Bay State’s former U.S. senator was ambushed with some early birthday festivities. His elder daughter, Country 102.5’s Ayla Brown, just shared snippets from the soon-to-be sexagenarian’s shindig, which took place at the Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus on Saturday.
“Pulled off the most epic surprise for my dad’s birthday!!!” wrote the “American Idol” alum.
Of course, it’s unlikely that Scott was suspecting a thing because his loved ones held the party nearly a month and a half before his actual party. But there was reason behind the wildly premature celebration.
“It’s not even until September but since he’ll be in New Zealand, this was the only way to get 120 of his closest friends and family in one place!!!” Ayla explained. “Best surprise ever.”
The unsuspecting NZ ambassador, who’ll officially be turning the big 6-0 on Sept. 12, showed up to the party sporting a DC Comics’ tee with The Flash’s lightning bolt logo. But after he had a good look at all of the decorative details, like a custom cake topped with his initials “SB,” he quickly got into the Polynesian spirit of the event and changed into a Hawaiian shirt. Members of his family rocked their respective take on Pacific Islander garb, donning flower crowns, leis and grass skirts.
Among the many guests who gathered in the Route 1 eatery’s private room to toast Brown and his impending increase in age: his wife, former broadcaster Gail Huff, younger daughter Arianna Brown Hendry and her husband, James Hendry, as well as the aforementioned Ayla and her boyfriend, fellow musician Rob Bellamy.
