Man accused of attempted rape at Northeastern Univ.
A homeless Level 3 sex offender from Boston is accused of attempting to rape a student on the Northeastern University campus on the same day T cops said he exposed himself on the Orange Line.
Kennedy Colson, 29, was arraigned Tuesday in Roxbury Municipal Court on charges of assault with intent to rape, kidnapping, open lewdness and trespassing, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office.
He was arrested on the MBTA after the alleged July 18 sex crimes. Prosecutors said he first targeted the college student on the Huntington Avenue campus at 1 p.m. then exposed himself on the subway two hours later.
He was ordered held without bail pending the outcome of a dangerousness hearing that is scheduled for Friday.
That same day, MBTA Transit Police were called to the Forest Hills station for reports that a man, who authorities later identified as Colson, asked a woman inappropriate questions while riding an Orange Line train and then fully exposed himself.
Colson is a registered Level 3 sex offender, according to Transit Police, and was arraigned Monday on charges of open and gross lewdness and failure to register as a sex offender. Bail for that case was set at $5,000, but he was right back in court the next day.
T police said one of their “eagle eyed” officers spotted Colson on the corner of Ukraine Way and Washington Street in Jamaica Plain two days after the alleged attacks by comparing his image to “a review of our public safety cameras.”
Colson’s home address is listed as a city homeless shelter, the DA’s office added.
