TONE-DEAF DEMOCRATS

Warren, media stoop to exploit violence

- Grace CURLEY Listen to Grace Curley’s podcast “Conversations with Grace” at HowieCarrShow.com.

Shortly after the El Paso shooting, Elizabeth Warren reignited her longstanding Fox feud, this time tweeting, “We need to call it out: Fox News is a hate-forprofit machine that gives a megaphone to racists and conspiracists.”

We all know Liz Warren is the Michael Scott of politics when it comes to lacking self-awareness. But even for her, accusing Fox of being a “hate-for-profit machine” is particularly tone deaf, when your Democrat comrades are sending out fundraising emails on the shootings.

When it comes to exploiting hate, the Democrats are way ahead of the Republicans.

I can’t think of anything more hateful than the two senseless mass shootings that occurred last weekend, with 31 people dead in El Paso and Dayton. But despite what the mainstream media might want you to believe, it isn’t Mitch McConnell or President Trump who are trying to “profit” off these hateful acts.

The Democratic National Committee sent out an email that raised eyebrows even among the wokest of woke. According to FreeBeacon, the message “sent from a DNC email with (Gabby) Giffords’s name, asks recipients to show ‘courage’ by splitting a contribution between the DNC and Giffords PAC, a gun control group that spent nearly $18 million on elections last cycle.”

Robert Francis, aka “Beto,” O’Rourke wasted no time either. The Vanity Fair cover boy sprinted to the TV cameras to bash President Trump.

On MSNBC, Stephanie Ruhle’s reaction to Beto trying to suck up 15 more minutes of fame was equally cringeworthy. “As bad as this may sound, could this moment be a chance for Beto to gain some momentum?”

The media selectively blame Republicans for these horrible events because it fits their narrative. And if the facts don’t fit their narrative? Well, ignorance is bliss when you’re a Democrat operative with a press pass.

Take this Slate headline about the El Paso shooter: “El Paso Suspect Reportedly a Trump Supporter Who Wrote Racist, Anti-Immigrant Manifesto.”

But oddly, the political leanings of the Dayton shooter were much less germane when Slate came up with its next headline: “Dayton Shooter Reportedly Suspended From High School for Writing ‘Hit List’ on Wall.”

No mention of the crazed gunman’s political inclinations. Turns out, he was a big supporter of Elizabeth Warren.

And this hypocrisy is not new. While Trump was blamed for a Florida nut named Cesar Sayoc sending pipe bombs to highprofile Democrat politicians last year, Bernie Sanders was faultless when James Hodgkinson shot up a congressional softball game. Hodgkinson had worked on the Sanders presidential campaign in 2016.

How about a new standard for the media when it comes to these horrific cases: Blame the shooter.

I disagree with Liz Warren and Bernie Sanders on almost everything. But am I going to try to blame them for the insane actions of complete nutjobs like James Hodgkinson and Connor Betts? No, I’m not. Because my aversion to their agendas is political. It is not personal.

I just wish Dems could extend the same level of decency to the president.

Issues are always going to be politicized. But we’ve gone way past that.

Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC said on-air that, “This is a president who seems to want these things to happen.”

This from a woman who rails against dangerous rhetoric.

Nicolle Wallace had to apologize after saying on her MSNBC program that Trump is “talking about exterminating Latinos.”

It is one thing to openly exploit tragedy in order to push policies. It is another thing to demonize an entire political party and 63 million Trump voters.

Americans don’t agree on much these days. But we shouldn’t buy into the idea that our political foes, whoever they may be, are promoting mass murder. Republican or Democrat, coexist bumper sticker or Make America Great Again hat, Brooklyn hipster or red-state “deplorable” — we are all Americans. We all want these things to end.

Our strategies on how to end this scourge of violence may differ, but our shared grief during these national tragedies should unite us.
