WORKOUT BUDDIES FOR LIFE

Wahlberg pumps iron with gym members at Saugus’ F45 Training

- by Olivia Vanni

RIGHT ON THE MARK: We’re told that Mark Wahlberg broke a sweat on Route 1 in Saugus this past week. The Dorchester-raised actor dropped into the freshly opened F45 Training at Essex Landing to do a group workout session with some of its gym members. After exercising at the local foothold for the international fitness brand, in which he’s an investor, the “Spenser Confidential” star was spotted wearing a baseball cap he acquired from his Bay State visit as he brought some functional fitness fun to Marines at the Air Station Miramar in San Diego, Calif.

IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN SOWA: Attention all “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” fans: We have a sighting to share that warrants a toast. Raise a Coke can of wine, because actress

Artemis Pebdani was apparently in town last week, when she was seen out and about in the South End. It looks like the actress, who plays Dee’s sole friend and Frank’s off-and-on lover Artemis on the hit comedy series, swung by the SoWa Vintage Market to snag some sweet retro pieces.

LIKE A FLASH: Grandmaster Flash, hip-hop legend, paid a visit to Berklee College of Music to teach a clinic to a group of students this week. The DJ pioneer took to the stage of the Berklee Performance Center to man the turntables and make rhythmic magic before imparting his spin wisdom on the crowd of aspiring musicians. Flash gave special shoutouts to a couple of Berklee’s faculty members, including professors Prince Charles Alexander and Carl Beatty, for their artistic contributions to the genre. “I love the fact that the kids are trying to learn this,” he told the audience. “The computer corrects you all the time. Vinyl is like being on the 100th floor, no net.”

TOTALLY BUGGIN’: Actress and activist Alicia Silverstone made an appearance in Cambridge last week, serving as the keynote speaker during the Combined Jewish Philanthropies’ annual Chaiin the Hub. The star shared stories from her career — from starring in the coming-ofage classic “Clueless” to promoting animal rights and wellness — to the crowd of about 450 guests who gathered at the event to celebrate 12 local young professionals. Silverstone was also seen mixing and mingling with guests and this year’s honorees, who were being recognized for their substantial impact on Boston’s Jewish community, before she had to return to the West Coast to celebrate the Academy Awards.

OFF THE ISLAND: “Survivor” just kicked off its latest season, entitled “Winners at War,” this week, and a couple of Mass.-raised alums marked their return to the show with separate parties in the Boston ’burbs. For starters, we hear that CBS Sporting Club hosted a viewing bash featuring local Castaway, Jeremy Collins. The “Survivor: Cambodia” winner and former “Survivor: San Juan del Sur” contestant joined fans as they all watched the premiere on the big screen right in his hometown of Foxboro. Among the guests who gathered at the Patriot Place venue were members of his family as well as the girls basketball team that he coaches. Meanwhile, Lexington native Ethan Zohn went low-key, watching the first episode in a more intimate setting at Kings in Burlington. Zohn, who won “Survivor: Africa” as well as “Survivor: All-Stars,” and his close family and friends hunkered down in a private room to watch the start of the reality series’ 40th installment.
