State’s toll reaches 260 on 13.8G cases

Twenty-nine new coronaviru­s deaths were reported in Massachuse­tts Monday, along with more than 1,300 new cases of the highly contagious disease.

The 29 new deaths bring the Bay State’s coronaviru­s death toll to 260, the state Department of Public Health announced.

The new reported deaths ranged from people in their 50s to 90s. At least 14 of the 29 people had pre-existing conditions.

The state now has 13,837 confirmed cases of the highly contagious disease, an increase of 1,337 cases since Sunday.

At least 1,241 people in Massachuse­tts have been hospitaliz­ed for coronaviru­s.

Middlesex County has the most confirmed cases in Massachuse­tts with 2,950 cases, followed by Suffolk County with 2,929 cases.

Essex County has 1,653 cases, Norfolk County has 1,382 cases, Worcester County has 1,077 cases, and Plymouth County has 1,067 cases.

Boston has had 2,035 confirmed cases and 19 deaths.

The state reported 835 residents and health care workers at long-term care facilities have now contracted the virus, with 119 facilities reporting at least one case of COVID19.

An additional 4,492 tests have brought the state’s total to 76,429 tests.

The U.S. has recorded more than 360,000 cases as of Monday — the most cases in the world. More than 10,500 Americans have died.

New York is the country’s hotspot with more than 4,700 deaths and 131,000 cases.

There are more than 1.3 million confirmed cases worldwide and more than 74,000 deaths. More than 275,000 people have recovered.
