Pats all over All-Decade team
In playoffs each year and won three titles
Tom Brady and Bill Belichick headlined the nine past and present Patriots named to NFL’s 2010s AllDecade Team on Monday.
It was the second All-Decade Team honor for coach and quarterback.
Former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, offensive guard Logan Mankins, defensive end/linebacker Chandler Jones and kicker Stephen Gostkowski also made the roster. Cornerback Darrelle Revis, kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson and wide receiver Antonio Brown, all of whom played for a year or less in New England, rounded out the Pats’ player selections. Belichick was one of two coaches selected, along with Seattle’s Pete Carroll.
Belichick reached the playoffs every year of the 2010s and made five Super Bowls. Under his leadership, the Pats won three titles, including one over Carroll’s Seahawks. Belichick joins former Steelers coach Chuck Noll as the only coach to be named to two All-Decade teams.
The Pats do not currently have any player on the AllDecade team rostered, though the majority of its members remain active. After the Patriots, who led all teams with eight players selected, the Chiefs ranked second with six.
Brady was one of eight players unanimously selected by the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 48-member selection committee. The others were running back Adrian Peterson, offensive tackle Joe Thomas, offensive guard Marshal Yanda, defensive tackle Aaron Donald, defensive end J.J. Watt, linebacker Von Miller and kicker Justin Tucker. The other quarterback selected was Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers.
