Arrest made in shooting

A fifth person has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting last month in Jamaica Plain, Boston Police said Sunday.

Police officers assigned to the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehensi­on Unit on Saturday arrested Devonne McDonald-Jones, 23, of Roslindale, who’s accused of shooting a gun before running away from 267 Centre St. He was wanted on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm (third or subsequent offense); unlawful possession of ammunition; carrying a loaded firearm; and dischargin­g a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

On May 21 at 267 Centre St., officers found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment. One of the victims, Dashawn Davis, 24, of Jamaica Plain, later died.

Three people were arrested after a struggle in which the suspects attempted to flee while also trying to toss their guns.

Clifford Jones, 43, of Randolph, was charged with three counts each of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a large-capacity feeding device and resisting arrest.

Rushon Hemingway, 23, of Springfiel­d, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and resisting arrest.

Tyron Blair-Battiste, 37, of Jamaica Plain, was charged with interferin­g with a police officer and disorderly conduct.

A fourth person, Uhmari Bufford, 25, of Jamaica Plain, was charged with interferin­g with an officer and disturbing the peace after he grew hostile while demanding access to the crime scene, police said.

McDonald-Jones will appear in West Roxbury District Court for arraignmen­t.
