Trump to rally Friday in N.H.

First event after convention

President Trump is returning to New Hampshire this week, in what appears to be his first rally following this week’s Republican National Convention.

Trump had scheduled a rally in the Granite State earlier this summer, but that Portsmouth rally was canceled because of weather, his campaign said. Coronavirus concerns also hovered around that event after a previous rally in Oklahoma reportedly sparked an outbreak.

Now Trump is set to speak from Manchester’s PeriCohas Hangar on Friday, his campaign has announced.

“It’s exciting he’s coming again,” said N.H. Republican activist Fran Wendelboe. “And we’re thrilled New Hampshire will be his first stop after accepting the nomination.

“New Hampshire is a special place for him, and he’s not taking anything for granted,” she added. “He really wants to win New Hampshire after not winning here in the last general election.”

Will Rasky, a New Hampshire Democratic Party spokesman, said in a statement, “It doesn’t matter if New Hampshire voters are hearing it from Donald Trump over the airwaves at his chaos convention this week or from the Granite State itself the next day — voters can see right through his broken promises and are tired of the circus.”

“Thanks to Trump’s failed and chaotic mismanagement, seniors will be left out to dry when he bankrupts Social Security, while thousands of Granite Staters risk losing their health care thanks to his constant work to repeal the Affordable Care Act,” Rasky added. “New Hampshire is ready to turn the page in November by firing Donald Trump and electing Joe Biden to restore real leadership to the White House.”

All attendees at Friday’s rally will be required to wear masks, in accordance with New Hampshire’s emergency order. The campaign will have masks available for anyone who does not bring their own, according to organizers.

The event registration has a coronavirus clause: “By registering for this event, you understand and expressly acknowledge that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. In attending the event, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19, and waive, release, and discharge Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; Peri Cohas Hangar; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers from any and all liability under any theory, whether in negligence or otherwise, for any illness or injury.”
