Woman killed in ambulance collision

A 39-year-old woman was killed striking a traffic barrier and then an ambulance on Route 93 in Dorchester Saturday night, according to Massachuse­tts State Police.

Ashley Rose Jimenez, of Dennis, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Boston EMS.

At about 7:40 p.m., troopers from the South Boston Barracks responded to a multivehic­le crash on 93 north near Exit 14 in Dorchester.

Police determined that a Nissan Altima driven by Jimenez struck the traffic barrier attenuator at Exit 14, lost control, and struck a Brewster EMS ambulance that was transporti­ng a patient.

Three other vehicles were also involved in the crash after the initial collision between the Nissan and the ambulance.

Four other motorists were transporte­d to Boston Medical Center with minor injuries: the two Brewster EMS medics, both males, and the female patient they were transporti­ng; and a man who was driving one of the other vehicles involved .

Earlier on Saturday, the State Police Norwell Barracks received reports of a vehicle matching the descriptio­n of the Nissan Altima that was being operated erraticall­y on Route 3.

Troopers located small alcohol bottles, both opened and closed, inside the Nissan Altima.

The crash remains under investigat­ion by State Police, the State Police Detective

Unit for Suffolk County, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruc­tion Section,

and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
