American pride on display

Then, Democrats show true colors

- Grace CURLEY

The only thing more telling than what makes the Democrats happy — mask mandates, economic recessions, peaceful/fiery protests — is what makes them sad.

Now in all fairness, this week was full of triggering moments for the left.

The Republican National Convention managed to showcase the American dream in four jam-packed nights.

Each speaker gave their own unique perspective on why they are supporting President Trump in the November election. But more importantly, they each told their own story. Some were stories of redemption, others were stories of success or survival. But they all had one thing in common: Whether the person behind the podium was a pardoned prisoner or a neurosurgeon — each believed in the greatness of the United States of America.

So is anyone surprised the media went mad?

After all, they’ve spent the last four years informing the masses that there is no greatness to believe in.

Actress Robin Wright wrote a piece in The New Yorker titled, “To the World, We’re Now America the Racist and Pitiful.”

Don Lemon of CNN said this week about Trump supporters, “They like the shiny objects. They like the racism. They like the misogyny. They like all of it because if they didn’t, they wouldn’t support him.”

So imagine the horror over at CNN and MSNBC when they are forced to broadcast speeches by convention speakers Alice Marie Johnson or Kaleigh McEnany or Carl and Marsha Mueller. The mainstream media’s narrative was egregiously contradicted by these proud Americans.

After the final night of the RNC on Thursday, the talking heads were flabbergasted. No, they were not dismayed at the fact that Sen. Rand Paul and his wife were attacked by an angry mob while leaving the White House.

The critics had bigger fish to fry in their post-game analysis.

Dana Bash of CNN was dismayed by the entire event.

“It’s bizarre to be having this conversation as we’re listening to an opera singer sing ‘Ave Maria’ on the South Lawn of White House.”

Norah O’Donnell of CBS talked about the “fireworks that spell out ‘Trump’ on government land.”

Fireworks, Catholic songs and President Trump. The horror.

But beyond the red, white, and blue blasphemy, there was another element that the no-fun brigade zeroed in on … the Hatch Act.

Like the Logan Act and campaign finance violations, the Hatch Act is making a comeback solely thanks to Trump. No one flinched when President Barack Obama’s administration violated the same act (multiple times). But now, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her sidekick U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff might just have to open up an investigation into this abuse of power.

Hey, Nancy, the 51st probe will be the one that takes him down. I can feel it! But despite the double standard, we all knew the media was going to fixate on the Hatch Act. So why did Trump make it so easy for them?

Geraldo Rivera of Fox News asked the president why he wouldn’t simply hold his RNC acceptance speech at a different location, maybe one of his hotels, to avoid further uproar.

Trump said he’d be “criticized regardless of the venue, why not choose the grandest of them all?”

It isn’t a brilliant observation by the president. In fact, it is an incredibly obvious one. Trump is perpetually damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. But what drives the left insane is that Trump has accepted that certainty.

Unlike Sen. Mitt Romney or former Sen. Jeff Flake, Trump has embraced what other Republicans couldn’t.

Whereas other politicians have tried to appease their critics with vain gestures of civility, Trump doesn’t waste his time.

The president isn’t concerned with being wellliked. It is one of his greatest strengths in politics.

Sure, he won’t get a glowing puff piece in The New York Times.

He’ll never be offered a gig as a contributor at NBC.

But the president knows why the left embraces the anti-Trump Republicans who speak out so proudly against him: the Democrats love Republicans who lose.

If you agree to their terms, bend the knee to their causes and solemnly swear that Orange Man Bad — then you can join their club. They’ll never really like you, but they’ll throw you a bone.

But the woke beautiful people will never accept Trump because he is not willing to become the loser they desperately need him to be.

The president will never be invited to the D.C. cocktail parties and he knows it. So this week, the president threw his own house party. And it was a ripper.
