Bentley football lands haul of commitments
Barnstable’s Dowling one of many to sign letters
The Bentley University football department was working on double time Wednesday morning as the commitments came flying in.
By the time the process ended, the Falcons secured commitments from 13 local players. One of those was from Barnstable lineman Brenden Dowling, a 6-foot-3, 270-pounder who has excelled on and off the field.
“I am extremely proud of everything that Brenden has accomplished here at Barnstable over the past four years,” said Barnstable coach Ross Jatkola. “He has gone above and beyond to be a leader on the field, in the classroom and in the community. He’s everything you want in a high school football player and we are so excited for him and his family on this great day.
“Bentley is a great fit for him and this is just the beginning. I know he is going to go on and do great things.”
The rest of the local crew heading to the Waltham campus includes Bryan Cruz (Durfee), Michael DePlacido and Jared Silverio (BB&N), Dan DiMare (Reading), Jack Ford (Lynnfield), A.J. Norton-Jefferson (Melrose), Will Lederman (Natick), Walter Morales Jr. (Lawrence Academy),
Jonathan Oriakhi (Milton Academy), Quincy Plumer (Catholic Memorial), Nayvon Reid (Brockton) and Max Wolfgang (North Andover).
Assumption secured the services of Cam Reagan (Duxbury) and Kedrick Santos (Taunton), while Bryant landed Nick Bilsbury (Lawrence Academy) and Vincent Gilchrist (Xaverian). Cambridge’s Ashur Carraha is heading to Stonehill along with Xaverian’s Noah Canty. Canty’s high school teammate Michael Berluti is off to Tufts along with Louis Timmins (BC High).
Bishop Stang had a pair of baseball players sign their National Letter of Intents. Max Brulport committed to Stonehill, while Hayden
Duke is going to UMass Lowell. The legendary Lowell wrestling program is sending two wrestlers to college: Brady Drakoulakos (Norwich) and Fitzgerald Jordan (Western New England).
Late last week, Danvers standout volleyball player Carly Goodhue signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Assumption. A twotime Northeastern Conference all-star, Goodue helped guide the Falcons to a 25-1 record and a berth in the Div. 2 state finals in 2019.
