MCC has a plan in place for summer, fall 2021 semesters

- This report provided by Middlesex Community College.

Middlesex Community College is offering a mix of in-person, online and hybrid courses for summer and fall 2021. With options that work best for them, MCC students can reach their goals faster — without having to pay four-year college tuition.

“Although a financially difficult time for many, Middlesex will work with students to find affordable solutions to keep them on track,” said Dr. James C. Mabry, MCC’s president. “By educating future workers with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful, the college can play an important role in reviving the economy.”

From the start of the pandemic, MCC has built upon its 21-year history of success with online learning to provide effective online classes, and followed health and safety protocols to ensure that students have access to the courses, spaces and resources they need.

“Middlesex gives you a great opportunity to look at different classes and take core classes,” said Malayah Montgomery, an MCC history and global studies major. “The students, faculty and staff care about your experience and want to help you be successful.”

For the summer and fall 2021 semesters, courses will run via four primary learning modalities.

For in-person learning, Middlesex is following guidelines laid out by the CDC and Gov. Baker to bring students back on campus in a phased, safe approach.

Students coming to campus for the entirety or part of their course will be in a controlled setting, following MCC’s strict safety practices, including social distancing and mask wearing. Students in blended face-toface with online classes complete coursework in both settings.

Students taking synchronous online courses attend live classes at specific dates and times, and engage with professors and classmates in a live, remote setting using a camera and microphone.

Students in asynchronous online classes work independently while meeting deadlines, engage with the class on their own schedules, and have on-going access to online materials.

Summer 2021 registration opens today, and Fall 2021 registration starts April 1. Go to middlesex.mass.edu/registration/ or call 800-8183434 for more information and to register.
