GM’s Yukon really shines
Has size, comfort and great options
For American manufacturer General Motors and its multiple lines of business like Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC, its top priority is providing consumers options in attempts to corner the market when looking in the American stables. They do a pretty good job of it and have drastically reduced their lineup to better hone in on what consumers in the American market are looking for. For GMC, its mid-scale models have a limited lineup but the ones it does have really shine.
Our tester this week, a GMC Yukon AT4. This smaller-sized Suburban is a great option for consumers in the mid-large American SUV category. Similar to the base model Chevrolet Tahoe and high-end model, Cadillac Escalade, the Yukon offers third row seating, a plush interior and tons of space for any family for a great base price in the midlarge SUV market.
Our 2021 Yukon came with the elegant and off-roading AT4 package, for an additional $9,145 you get all the fixin’s such as, power dualpane sunroof, power retractable side steps, air ride suspension, prograde trailering system, in-vehicle trailering and blind zone alerts, HD surround vision, color heads up display, a 10.2 inch infotainment system with navigation and Bluetooth and rear seat media with dual 12.6 inch color touch screens.
This is a big bang for the buck and well worth the expense for family travelers. Remember, these are just the additions to the already nice
Yukon.
In the powertrain department, we have the familiar 5.3-liter Ecotec3 V8 engine, which might as well be Chevrolet’s go to in the economy V8 department. The ride-friendly 10-speed automatic transmission is also present, a great combo for powertrain aficionados.
Standard mechanical and performance options are stabilitrak, magnetic ride control, hill descent, auto start/stop engine and 20 inch aluminum wheels with carbon grey metallic accents paired with all-terrain Goodyear tires. LED lights and hands-free power tailgate are also standard.
The seven-passenger Yukon is certainly a stretch for consumers as its price point is slightly higher than non-American manufacturers, but for the money, you certainly get one solid, roadhandling, large SUV that can tow, haul and store many things. One thing that really stood out to me was the comfort. I am not sure what parent company GM is doing with its large SUVs but it has the comfort department figured out.
